This sector has grown strongly in Guanajuato thanks to joint ventures between Mexican and foreign corporations that have spotted the opportunities in the State as it strives to strengthen production chains.
This sector includes the following subsectors: metalworking, automobile and auto parts, construction, chemicals, mining, electrical and electronic, plastics, and software developmet. Guanajuato is a great State that is becoming greater as it continues to attract more new investment in this sector.
 

Guanajuato is one of Mexico's leading producers of grain and vegetables. Its variety of climates and soils means that different regions can specialize in different crops.

Both large and small companies are engaged in agribusiness. Some of the most important are involved in packing and freesing of fruit and vegetables and the processing of edible oils and fats, animal food, meat, flour and pasta, dehydrated fruit and vegetables, milk products, instant desserts, gelatin, and natural food colorings.

The most important exports are garlic, celery, broccoli, onions, strawberries, asparagus, and potatoes. It also produces other high-quality foodstuffs for the home and international markets.
 
Guanajuato has a long and cherished tradition of producing decorations and furniture. Articles manufactured range from craft items made antirely by hand in small family workshops to the products of modern factories designed to meet the requirements of domestic and international mass markets.

Articles made from Guanajuato's wood, metals, minerals, pottery, glass and textiles are found in millions of places throughout the world.
 

Guanajuato is Mexico's leading supplier and exporter of footwear. As well as boots, shoes, saddles, and hats. The sector produces machinery and equipment for tanneries and footwear manufacturers, chemicals, leathers and skins, synthetic materials and textiles, lasts, soles and heels, components, accessories and fittings.

In fact, one of the world's most complete leather and footwear clusters is based in the state, and its skilled workforce makes products of world-class quality.
     

Textiles and clothing have long played an important role in the State of Guanajuato, and about a quarter of all jobs are in this sector. Eight of the State's 36 cities are active in this industry.

The main products are demin, T-shirts, sweaters and knitnear, industrial uniforms, sportwear, fabric and equipment for the industry. All these products are highly competitive and suitable for export.
